English: Upper Campus is a largely undeveloped area of UC Santa Cruz located north of McLaughlin Road. The area is home to a young, mixed coast redwood and coast Douglas fir forest. The area has been the subject of a decades-long debate as to whether the university should develop it further in order to accommodate more student residences and academic research buildings, or expand the UCSC Campus Natural Reserve to protect all of Upper Campus.
