Such fixes may consist of:

Making or restoring <text> text instead of <path> text (for vector images only);
Replacement of various ASCII stuff or homebrew thingies with proper characters;
Replacement of pseudonotation (〈a^b〉, 〈x_1〉, …) with regular notation (〈a^b〉, 〈x₁〉 resp.);
Forcing serif upon scientific notation (instead of sans or other substandard options);
Making variables italic, vectors bold, numerals and symbols Roman, and similar changes consistent with scientific conventions;
Text size, alignment etc.
