The Tsitsikamma Big Tree is the most accessible and well-known of the so-called Big Trees. It is visited by more than 80,000 tourists annually. It is one of South Africa's Champion Trees, which are protected under Section 12 of the National Forests Act of 1998 by the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
