English: A photograph of an earlier version of this figure, entitled Music or Song, was printed in contemporary art magazines, together with an earlier version of Dance. Both of these versions feature more drapery, and headdresses in the shapes of birds - in the case of Music, an owl. These versions were apparently sent to India and their current whereabouts are unknown. The mourning figure on Ford's Shelley Memorial is a seated version of the same woman; a copy of the same mourning figure by Andrea Carlo Lucchesi forms part of Ford's own memorial in London.
