English: "The Constitution" by Barry Faulkner is one of two large oil-on-canvas murals that are displayed in the Rotunda for the Charters of Freedom in the United States National Archive Building in Washington, D.C. It was commissioned in 1933 and completed in 1936. The mural is approximately 14 feet by 37.5 feet and depicts James Madison of Virginia presenting his draft of the United States Constitution to George Washington, president of the 1787 Constitutional Convention, and to other members of the Convention. This event originally took place inside Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, but in the mural is depicted in a sylvan setting. From left to right in the front row are depicted: 1.
