English: The Star of India was a wooden full-rigged ship built in 1861 by Alexander Stephen, Dundee (yard no 25) for Joseph Somes. c 1885 sold to Captain Michelsen, Sandefjord, Norway. 1892 was abandoned in mid-Atlantic. The floating wreck was sighted south of the Equator by the barque Criffel on voyage from Cardiff to Tquique.
Dimensions: length × beam × depth: 190.3 × 34.2 × 22.1 ft (58 × 10.4 × 6.7 m) and tonnage 1102 GRT, 1040 NRT and 934 tons under deck. [1]
