English: Siddham sign virama or halant (U+115BF): kills the inherent vowel of base consonants, and combines with the next consonant to form a conjunct ligature, either by presenting the next base consonant into a subjoined reduced half form, or by modifying the first consonant into a superjoined reduced half form (such as reph form for the leading ra consonant). When no such half forms exist for both consonants or no conjunct ligature must be formed (because it occurs at the last consonant of a syllabic akshara cluster or at end of a word), the virama itself is rendered normally as a diacritic below the previous consonant.
