The Sitalamata temple of Butapaldi is a 12th-century Hindu goddess temple. It was a large complex with the main temple built on a platform. However, almost all the structures are now lost including the mandapa before the main temple.

The surviving structures of the temple include an antarala and the shikhara. The temple walls and doorway to the sanctum are exquisitely carved with Hindu deities from all major Hindu traditions, with the prominent frames dedicated to goddesses such as Durga Mahisasuramardini. The sanctum lintel has Lakshmi on sides with prominent images of Vishnu.

The temple sanctum features a statue added after the 18th-century and worshipped as Sitala Mata goddess – a form of Parvati whose worship rose to prominence when small pox pandemic crippled children over large parts of South Asia.
