sec-Butyl compounds are chemical compounds formally derived from butane by replacement of one of the two hydrogen atoms on the second carbon (i.e. carbon #2) with other atoms or functional groups. sec-Butyl compounds contain the sec-butyl group, C4H9, and have the general formula C4H9X, where X is any chemical element or group.
