English: The Sault Ste. Marie Canal — part of the shipping route from the Atlantic Ocean to the western Great Lakes, located in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada.

The 1895 canal includes a set of locks to bypass the rapids on the international St. Marys River. In the present day it is used for recreational and tour boats, with major shipping traffic using the U.S. Soo Locks.
A National Historic Site of Canada, it passes between the city of Sault Ste. Marie and Whitefish Island, on the shipping channel joining Lake Huron and Lake Superior.
Of particular note are the canal’s Powerhouse built into the slope of the hill at the downstream end of the lock, and the Emergency Swing Dam located west of the original lock near the Superintendent’s Residence.

Le lieu historique national du Canada du Canal-de-Sault Ste. Marie.
Sa centrale électrique construite sur le versant de la colline en aval de l'écluse, et son barrage tournant de secours situé à l'ouest de l'écluse d’origine près de la résidence du directeur revêtent une importance particulière. Aujourd’hui, le canal sert d’aménagement récréatif.
