English: The Safeguard Program was the last nuclear-armed anti-ballistic missile program carried out by the US Army. It traces its history to work that started in 1955 as the Nike Zeus project, through Nike-X, the Sentinel Program, and finally Safeguard. Safeguard was active only for a period of months before the program was abandoned.
