The Sportiva Calcio Adelaide is a Ghanaian soccer club from Tema in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. The club was founded on the 16th of May, 1995. The Italian name has the club in honour of Adelheid von Burgund, which is called also Saint Adelaide of Italy, because she was from 947 to 999 the Queen of Italy and from 962 on as wife of Otto I also Empress of the Holy Roman Empire of German Nation to which belonged also Italy. (See, for instance, this church windows in the Italian town Garda). Due to this connection to Italy and their blue playing jerseys, the players of the SC Adelaide are called also "Azzuri". (The Italian name is correctly. If the name would be an English name one would writes "Adelaide SC".)
