As there is a constant mix-up of the Rose and Red valleys here is a quotation from a website: "The Scientific Committee of the Benetton Studies Research Foundation has decided to dedicate the thirty-first edition of the International Carlo Scarpa Prize for Garden to a place in Asia Minor that emerges from the long historical and geographical history of Cappadocia: two contiguous valleys carved into the volcanic rock, the Rose Valley and the Red Valley, in Turkish Güllüdere and Kızılçukur."Red Valley (in Turkish : Kızılçukur Vadisi). So: Rose Valley is Güllüdere, Red Valley is Kızılçukur. Gül is rose, lü means "with, having...", dere is stream, brook. They tend to run in valleys. Kızıl is red, çukur is hollow, trench. Rose Valley (in Turkish : Güllüdere Vadisi)
