English: Robert Cooper, English silversmith, active in the mid 17th century. Son of William Cooper of Lasbury in the County of Buckingham, yeoman, apprenticed to Thomas George, 8 January 1664; freed, 17 February 1670. Probably working independently by about 1675. Appears in the accounts of the banker, Richard Hoare, 1685. Address: Strand Court, 1693. Warden, 1707, 1711, and 1712 and Prime Warden, 1717. Heal and Hilton Price record him as goldsmith, Golden lion, corner of Arundel Street, Strand, 1694-1714; and as Robert Cooper and Co., same address in 1717. He signed the report of the committee of the Goldsmith's Company on the present state of the Company, 29 April 1708.
