English: Rice pudding boiled on milk, sugar and salt is served with a knob of butter and a sprinkle-mix of sugar and powdered cinnamon as a traditional Christmas food in Denmark. The dish is called 'Risengrød' in Danish, translating as rice-poridge. In previous times, a bowl was placed in the attic in December, as an offering to calm the supernatural creature called 'Nissen', an unpredictable and often very grumpy creature of Danish and Scandinavian folklore.
Suomi: Riisipuuro
