English: Combination reel-to-reel-and-record-player decks used the same mechanism for both functions. The capstan of the tape deck, mounted on a massive flywheel, also served as a spindle for mounting the phonograph platter. The two-in-one combos were built in Eastern Europe in the 1950s, but did not sell well and were soon phased out in favor of separate components.
