  • Mausoleum of Henry II and Catherine de’ Medici was built by Francesco Primaticcio. The tomb was completed in 1573: a temple guarded by four figures of the Cardinal Virtues, executed in bronze 1565 by Pilon and Jacquiot Ponce.
    • It was imperfectly reconstructed by Viollet-le-Duc (source).
  • At the top: two kneeling statues (priants) of spouses by Germain Pilon
  • Inside, at the bottom: two marble laying statues of naked cadavers of spouses (transi) by Germain Pilon
  • Also in 1583 Pilon created two laying statues of spouses in coronation robes. These two statues were intended to flank the altar of the chapel. Now it also are in Saint-Denis.
