Rangareddy (Telugu: రంగా రెడ్డి జిల్లా), sometimes spelled as Ranga Reddy or R.R. district, is one of the 23 districts of Telangana, India. Hyderabad is the district headquarter. Originally named Hyderabad (Rural) district, it was renamed after Konda Venkata Ranga Reddy, a freedom fighter who fought for the independence of Telangana from the Nizams and who went on to become the deputy chief minister of Andhra Pradesh. The district encircles the city and district of Hyderabad, and the city of Hyderabad also serves as the administrative center of the district.17°12′0″N 78°16′48″E / 17.2°N 78.28°E
