This ruined monument was once a two-storey palace for the king, destroyed and rebuilt several times. It stands next to a large manmade lake, now mostly dry. The palace has a courtyard, and rooms with lime-plastered walls. The geometric Indo-Islamic artwork reflects the last Mughal era residents here.
This building is now a museum with important sculptures and temple ruins found in Kalinjar fort. Of these, a notable item is the 5th-century Ekamukha linga in Gupta era style (somewhat defaced, but reasonably preserved and helps dates the earliest history of this fort).
