Raft zithers are groups of tube zithers that have been connected together to form a single multi-tone instrument. "Raft zithers" is also a category in the Hornbostel-Sachs system to classify musical instruments. The classification is 313. Raft zithers with strings made from the tube material itself (idiochords) are further classified as 313.1. If strings are made of separate materials, then the instrument is classified as 313.2.[1]
