The tiny Princedom of Masserano (Principato di Masserano) near Biella, was born in 1598 when pope Clemens VIII made the County of Masserano into a Princedom. After being ruled by the House of Ferrero-Fieschi, it came under the rule of the House of Savoy on march 20 1767. Please see also: http://digilander.libero.it/breschirob/masseranop.html
