English: The foundation stone bears the inscription: "THIS STONE WAS LAID BY H. R. H. THE DUKE OF CONNAUGHT, K. G., K. T., K. P., &c. ON THE 2nd APRIL, 1890 IN COMMEMORATION OF THE COMMENCEMENT OF THE PRAYA RECLAMATION WORKS SIR G. WILLIAM DES VOEUX K. C. M. G., GOVERNOR". The stone was originally placed near the fence of the Cricket Club Pavilion. It was dismantled in 1975 and relocated to the present site in 1983."
