The address of the Pilgrim Church, in Brooklyn, N. Y., is 1338-1344 Broadway, but the bulk of the building stands on Gates Avenue.
It opened in 1921 as Loew's Gates Avenue Theatre, which quickly became known as Loew's Gates. The opening on November 21 would be attended (it was advertised) by "30 stars of stage and screen". The opening night bill comprised Bert Lytell in Alias Ladyfingers, Buster Keaton in Hard Luck, and vaudeville. In December, films of the opening were shown here and at Loew's Metropolitan (also in Brooklyn).
