English: The Philadelphia and Erie Railroad (known 1837-1861 as the Sunbury and Erie Railroad or Erie and Sunbury Railroad) was chartered in 1837 to provide transportation between the town of Sunbury in central Pennsylvania and Erie in northwestern Pennsylvania. The railway operated from 1837 to 1907, when it was merged with the Pennsylvania Railroad.
