English: In 1890, Everett Hosmer Barney built a Victorian-style home on a Laurel Hill overlooking the Connecticut River named Pecousic Villa; Pecousic being the Indian name for a wide place between hills or valley. He bequeathed his estate to the City of Springfield to create the Forest Park. Pecousic Villa served as the Springfield Gilded Age Museum. Was demolished in 1959 to give way to I-91 entrance ramp, and the current whereabouts of the villa's artifacts are unknown.
