Noel Holston, a native of Laurel, Miss., is a writer, storyteller, songwriter and actor who spent three decades commenting on popular culture, TV in particular, for The Orlando Sentinel, the Star Tribune in Minneapolis and Newsday in New York before becoming public relations director of the Peabody Awards at the University of Georgia. He lives in Athens with his wife and songwriting partner, singer-actress Marty Winkler. [1]

Holston's reviews, commentary, profiles and features have been published by more than 100 newspapers, magazines, and websites, among them the New York Daily News, Boston Globe, Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, Toronto Star, Huffington Post and TVWorthWatching. He is a three-time Pulitzer Prize nominee, a National Headliner recipient and Floridia Society of Newspaper Editors honoree.

As an actor, he has appeared in "The People Vs. Leo Frank," "Van Wilder 3," "Lodge 49" and "Bear Gator." He has also written, narrated and produced a series of Peabody Awards documentaries, including "Toon in Tomorrow," a history of animation on TV.

Holston's first book, "Life After Deaf," a memoir of his struggle to regain functional hearing after a catastrophic, overnight loss, was published in November 2019 by Skyhorse. He is currently working on "Firecracker Follies," a collection of stories about his upbringing in rural Mississippi, and a closely guarded project about "The Wizard of Oz." .
