The Nkyinkyim (also: Akyinkyin) is an Adinkra symbol (Akan religion, Ghana, Ivory Coast).
It stands for inscrutability as well as for initiative, versatility and dynamism.
The symbol shall illustrate a hermit crab which come out from a shell. The symbol means literary:
"You, player of many roles, kind lord!
Regard the young leafs, how they're rocking in thunderstorm and rain,
lithe and lissom. Free and unbroken.
Avoid the sanctuary of the hermit crab,
the shellfish at the beach.
Set out and intervene.
Than can you learn and
be yourself a mature experience
to other people with young spirit."
