English: The railway crossing at Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire, is one of the few examples of a flat crossing in the UK.
A north-south aligned diamond crossing, it sees the electrified East Coast Main Line (ECML) on a south east to north west alignment cross the diesel operated Nottingham to Lincoln Line (N-L) on a south west to north east alignment. A single track also runs from the north east side of the N-L Line south, to run alongside the ECML to North Gate station.
The closest stations on the ECML are Newark North Gate to the south and Retford to the north. The nearest stations on the N-L Line are Newark Castle to the south and Collingham to the north. At grade crossing of the East Coast Mainline, and the Nottingham to Lincoln Line. | |||||
