Navayāna (‘new vehicle’) or Neo Buddhism or Ambedkar Buddhism, refers to the idea that a Buddhist movement may represent a new yāna, i.e. major branch of Buddhism, in addition to the traditionally recognized branches of Theravada, Mahayana and Vajrayana. Bodhisattva Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar is the pioneer of Navayana Buddhism. More than 87% (7.3 million) population are the Navayana Buddhists in Indian Buddhists.
