English: Mponeng Gold Mine is situated in North West province, South Africa. It was formerly known as the South Shaft or Shaft No 1 of Western Deep Levels, and is the most recently sunk of the former (3) Western Deep Levels mines. As of 2017, it was owned by AngloGold Ashanti, but AngloGold sold its last South African mining assets to Harmony Gold in 2020.[1]
