The Moondyne Festival is an annual event that occurs in Toodyay Western Australia, named for Moondyne Joe a bushranger who lived in the region that successfully escaped from prison a number of times despite additional measures being taken after each escape to keep him in prison. He was given a pardon after the then Governor of Western Australia was quoted as saying if he succeeded again he'd get a pardon.
