English: Mermaid, Portmeirion. Originally built as the gardener's cottage at Aber Ia c.1840. It is one of only four surviving buildings that pre-date Clough Williams-Ellis at Portmeirion. He " ... dolled-up the gardener's bothey, which was pretty delapidated, in a sort of late C18 Gothic mood" in 1926.
