English: Maytown was the main settlement on the Palmer River goldfields in Far North Queensland. It is now a ghost town. Originally named Edwardstown, the town was settled in the early 1870s. In 1900, the town had a population of 674, nearly two thirds of whom were Chinese gold miners. The town was largely abandoned by 1945. (→Maytown, Queensland)
