The Maxwell House Hotel was a hotel in Downtown Nashville, Tennessee from 1869 to 1961. It is remembered for its ties to the Ku Klux Klan: Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest was inducted into the Ku Klux Klan in this hotel in 1866, and the first national meeting of the KKK took place at the hotel in April 1867. In 1904, it also became the brand name of Maxwell House coffee.
