Marsica is a historical-geographical region of western Abruzzo, central Italy. Its core encluted 37 municipalities in the province of L’Aquila (amongst which the most important is Avezzano), it borders with Eastern Lazio and Northern Molise. The area takes its name from the Marsi, an Italic people extinct in the 2nd century C.E.
