English: The map of Mexico produced by John Disturnell in 1847, was based without credit on the similar maps by Gallaher & White (published 1828) and by Henry Schenck Tanner (published 1846) and was used to determine the borders of the United States and Mexico after the American-Mexican war. Later surveyings proved the map inaccurate (for example at the Mexico/New Mexico border), which then required border negotiations.
