English: A Maibi (or Amaibi / Maibee / Amaibee / Maipi / Amaipi / Maipee / Amaipee) is a traditional Meitei priestess of Sanamahism (traditional Meitei ethnic polytheism religion). They usually dance to please gods and goddesses in the ceremonial Lai Haraoba (alias Umang Lai Harauba) classical dance and music ritualistic festival of ancient Kangleipak civilization (Manipur). A dance performed by a Maibi is called Maibi Jagoi. Jagoi means dance in Classical Meitei language (Literary Meetei / Manipuri / Meithei / Kanglei language).
