Built in 1937, this Art Moderne / Streamline Moderne apartment building at 330 North Carroll Street in Madison, Wisconsin, was built by the Gay brothers and designed by Balch and Lippert (see the Property Record online).
The building is clad in red brick with abstract asymmetrical irregular stone cladding worked into the brick facades around the entrances with rectangular shapes of varying lengths, some of which are extruded from the facades, with the entrances being flanked by brickwork with cantilevered awnings and sidelights, two-over-two windows, horizontal bands of stone trim around the top of the building, and a low-slope roof enclosed by a parapet.
The building is a contributing structure in the Mansion Hill Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.
