English: The Lockheed P-2 Neptune was designated P2V with the U.S. Navy (and with it U.S. Marine Corps) until 18 September 1962 when, with the introduction of the Tri-Service aircraft designation system, all Neptunes still in service were redesignated P-2. It was a long range maritime patrol aircraft widely used during the Cold War by many Western countries.
