English: Loch Ness was a iron-hulled barque, built 1869 by Barclay, Curle & Co. Glasgow Yard No 193 for Glasgow Shipping Co. - General Shipping Co. (W. Aitken & J. Lilburn)(Loch line) for world wide tramping voyages. Her dimensions were length: 225.3 ft (68.6 m); width: 35.3 ft (10.7 m); depth: 21.6 ft (658.3 cm) and tonnage 1,258 GRT and 1,203 NRT[1]. In 1908 she was sold to Stevedore & Shipping Co., Sydney for use as a coal hulk. In 1914 she was seized by the Australian Government and in 1926 HMAS Melbourne sank her for gunnery practice off Rottnest Island, Western Australia.[2][3]
