English: Media relating to the memorial to Laurenthes Braag, a Danish merchant from the Caribbean island of St Croix (then part of the Danish West Indies, but now in the US Virgin Islands) who died as a prisoner of war in Reading in 1808. At the time Denmark was allied with France, and the Royal Navy was ordered to seize any Danish ships. Braag was captured aboard the trading ship Harriet in 1807 and died of unknown causes the following year. Many Danish prisoners were billeted in Reading at the time, and the relationship between town and prisoners was generally cordial, which explains the prominence of this monument on the wall of Reading Minster.
