English: King Creole is an 1958 American film directed by Michael Curtiz, and produced by Hal B. Wallis. The story was adapted from the 1952 novel by Harold Robbins, A Stone for Danny Fisher. Starred by Elvis Presley, Carolyn Jones, and Walter Matthau, it was Presley's fourth movie and the third and last filmed in black and white. For the production of the movie, Presley had to defer his draft army notice to begin in January. The shooting of scenes in the movie were delayed several times by crowds of fans that harresed Presley and the rest of the cast. After the movie was finished in March, Presley was drafted into the army. Praised by the critics, it was a moderate success in the box office and considered later by Presley his favorite among his roles in other movies. The film was released by Paramount Pictures on July 2, 1958.
