Built in 1900, this Queen Anne-style house at 414 North Pinckney Street in Madison, Wisconsin, was designed by Gordon and Paunack for John A. Aylward and his wife Genevieve (see the Property Record online). Aylward (1861–1916) was a United States District Attorney and twice the Democratic candidate for governor.

The house features a hipped roof with two corner octagonal towers, one of which features a tall roof, gabled dormers, brick chimneys with decorative recessed panels and corbeling, replacement one-over-one windows, a stone base, and vinyl siding covering the house’s original wood cladding and many of its original window openings, and has had much of its original character besides the massing stripped from the exterior.

The house is a contributing structure in the Mansion Hill Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.
