This is a bust of newspaper editor and Mayor of Carlisle James Steel (1797–1851), by William Frederick Woodington (1806–1893). The bust is on permanent display at Tullie House, Carlisle, Cumbria, England. Steel was mayor of Carlisle 1844–1846. After Steel died, Woodington created a full-length marble statue of him, which still stands on English Street, Carlisle.
