Joseph Frederic Weedon aka Julian Frederick Weedon (St Pancras 3 October 1846 – Bristol 24 May 1924) was an engraver for the Illustrated London News between around 1880 and 1900. He was also a book illustrator. However he was a bigamist who beat his wives, and he was imprisoned for three years on Dartmoor. There is further information here. For an account of his crimes and sentence, under the name of Julian Frederick Weedon, see London Daily News 20 October 1903, page 11 col.5. Weedon's flourishing dates are unclear, but he was engraving from as early as 1861 (1861 census, "wood engraver") to as late as 1902 (court report, "black and white artist").
