J.A. Baillergeon Building (also known as Security Pacific Building), 1100 2nd Ave (corner of Spring St.), Downtown, Seattle, Washington. It was built in 1907 by prominent dry goods retailer Joseph A. Baillargeon to house his growing department store, previously located in the Collins Building, built by Baillargeon's father-in-law John Collins partially to house his store. Saunders & Lawton's original design for the building (published in the January 21, 1907 edition of the Seattle Times) showed an 8-story building crowned with a large cornice but only the first 4 floors were built under Baillargeon's ownership, which wouldn't be for long. He retired and closed the store by the end of 1910 after which the building was partitioned into office space. The building was purchased in 1919 by the National Bank of Commerce, who hired Portland architect Arthur E. Doyle to remodel the ground floor. A fifth floor was added to the building around the time the neighboring twin building was built in the late 1950s.
