Media related to Independence Square, historically known as the State House Yard, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. Laid out in the 1730s, Independence Square encompasses the block between Chestnut and Walnut Streets and 5th Street to 6th Street. The northern part of the square includes several buildings, most notably Independence Hall, as well as the East Wing and and West Wing of Independence Hall, Congress Hall, Old City Hall, and Philosophical Hall (also known as the American Philosophical Society Hall). The southern part of the square is a public park that features a statue of Commodore John Barry by Samuel Murray. The entire square is part of Independence National Historical Park and managed by the National Park Service.

Independence Square is not considered part of Independence Mall (the park on the north side of Independence Hall), which was established in the 1950s and 60s.
