The building at 85 East 4th Street between Second Avenue and The Bowery in the East Village neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City, was built as a rowhouse c.1834-35 in the Federal style with Greek Revival and Italianate style alterations. The building has had a variety of uses, including as a boarding house for young women and the offices of the Young Womens Aid Society (c.1872); Wilzig's Hall (c.1890s) a gathering place for anarchists; a Polish social hall (early twentieth century); Ukrainian Labor Hall (1940s), the East End Theater (1950s), home of the Fluxus artists (1960s), Ukrainian-American League headquarters (1970s), and the offices of the National Council of American-Soviet Friendship (1990s). It is located within the East Village/Lower East Side Historic District (Source: "East Village/Lower East Side Historic District Designation Report") The Horse Trade Theater Group was founded in 1998.
