The statue was found neatly buried under tiles with the inscription “FCS” (“fulgor conditum summanium”), indicating that it was struck by lightning then buried on the spot. Si tratta di un bronzo dorato, opera romana d'influsso lisippeo del II secolo d.C. Oggi è collocata nella Sala Rotonda del Museo Pio-Clementino, nei Musei Vaticani.

Rzeźbę odkryto w 1864 roku w rejonie Teatru Pompejusza, przykrytą płytą trawertynową, z wyrytym napisem «F.C.S.» (fulgor conditum summanium), co oznacza, iż została trafiona przez piorun i pochowana z zachowaniem specjalnych obrzędów. Posąg wykonany został w II–III w. z brązu i pozłacany. Dzieło jest rzymską kopią greckiej rzeźby z IV w. przed Chr. Zostało podarowane papieżowi Piusowi IX. Znajduje się w kolekcji Museo Pio-Clementino, Muzeów Watykańskich (nr inw. MV.252.0.0).
