English:  : Due to the isolation of the territory for decades a special inundation plant community has survived and developed here together with a fauna characterized by a great variety of species. Specialty: the vine (Vitis silvestris) which forms a nearly ubiquitous vegetation cover creating favourable conditions for unique phytocenoses. - A large number water fowl, including cormorants (Phalacrocoax carbo) and herons (Ardea cinarea) have found suitable nesting sites in the southern part of the island. - Conserving the wildlife, the island is reserved for scientific research only. - Under national protection since 1993.
